Customer service
Customer service and satisfaction are always difficult to gauge. For Tangerine, we've looked at results from TIO complaints, Trustpilot, and Product Review. The picture painted by these three sources shows a provider with average customer satisfaction, though its TIO complaints are on the rise.
While they're an important factor in choosing a new NBN provider customer service and satisfaction aren't always easy to assess. For Tangerine, we've looked at data from the Telecommunications Industry Ombudsman (TIO) and review aggregator sites Trust Pilot and Product Review.
Overall Tangerine has a good mix of customer support channels but it is seeing a rise in the number of official TIO complaints. It's a mixed bag when it comes to public reviews but where Tangerine performs poorly it still ranks better than similar providers.

TIO complaints
Increased year-on-year
The TIO publishes complaints data on a quarterly and annual basis. This can be helpful to gain an understanding of whether or not a telco's complaints are increasing or decreasing over time. However, it's important to know that the TIO doesn't factor in market share, so if a telco gains more customers between periods an increase in complaints may simply be because they have more customers.
In the 2023-2024 financial year Tangerine received 705 complaints and was the 9th most complained about provider. That's a 78.9% increase compared to the 394 complaints it had the previous year. Tangerine had a data breach during this period, which could have contributed.
You can access the full TIO complaints report for a better look.
