- Internet, electricity and gas bundle FAQs
Who doesn't love a good bundle deal, a classic two-for-one discount? Unfortunately they aren't that prevalent in the internet, electricity and gas realm.
Is it even cheaper to bundle electricity and gas with internet? Bundling your internet with utilities can make your monthly broadband bill cheaper, but you can often achieve the same thing by simply switching to a cheaper internet, electricity and gas plan instead.
Right now, the opportunity to bundle your internet and energy together is scarce but it does exist. There are a handful of Aussie retailers currently supplying power and internet services and giving discounts in the process.
Here's a summary of their electricity and internet bundling offers:
Provider | Deal | |
---|---|---|
Origin Energy | Save $10 per month when bundling any Origin energy service with an Origin internet plan. | |
Dodo | Save $5 per month for bundling Dodo internet with either electricity or gas. Up to $10 per month total for both services. | Go to Site |
AGL | Bundle either electricity or gas with an AGL internet plan and save $39 per month for six months. Save $15 per month ongoing. | |
Sumo | Save up to $15 per month for bundling your Sumo internet plan with either electricity or gas. Get $10 off for electricity, $5 off for gas. | - |
Bundle internet, electricity and gas with Dodo
Customers using Dodo for NBN, electricity and gas can get up to $10 per month discount on their NBN plan. It's a $5 discount per fuel type so you'll only be saving $5 a month if you only sign up for one of either electricity or gas.
Generally, Dodo's NBN plan pricing is middle-of-the-pack, but including up to $10 discount brings Dodo much further ahead.
If you're willing to change providers to get the discount then you're in luck. Here are Dodo's unlimited NBN plans.

The electricity and gas offer is only available for New South Wales and Victoria energy connections. Queensland electricity customers can get $5 off.
There's no lock-in contract and you can BYO NBN modem if you have one.
Bundle internet, electricity and gas with Origin Energy
Did you know that Origin Energy also offers NBN plans? The popular energy provider offers internet plans for NBN and fibre connection types.
Origin's internet plans tend to be on the pricier side but the bundled discounts make them more palatable. Customers bundling with any Origin energy service (electricity, gas, hot water or LPG) can get a $10 per month discount on their internet.

Note: There is $109 Opticomm connection fee.
You can get the bundle when you first sign up or existing energy customers may opt to add an internet plan to their account. It's only available in states and territories where Origin sells energy plans including New South Wales, Victoria, South East Queensland, South Australia and Australian Capital Territory.
All Origin internet plans are contract-free, and you can bring your own modem along to the plan. Plus, Origin typically throws in sign-up extras like 12 months of free Paramount+ or Everyday Rewards points.
Bundle internet, electricity and gas with AGL
AGL is another energy provider with its fingers in a few pies. It offers NBN internet and mobile plans in addition to electricity and gas.
If you're feeling the cost-of-living squeeze then AGL's got the biggest bundling discount. You'll get up to $39 off your internet bill each month for the first 12 months when you bundle with either electricity or gas and BYO modem.
In terms of price, AGL's internet plans tend to be more expensive. The bundling discount really brings the cost down.
AGL's plans are no lock-in contract and you can BYO modem to save further. This bundle is only available in New South Wales, Victoria, Queensland, South Australia and Western Australia. Western Australian residents only have the option of signing up for gas.

Bundle internet, electricity and gas with Sumo
Sumo is shaving $15 off your internet plan per month when you bundle one of its unlimited data NBN plans with either electricity and gas. Sumo's internet plans are also on the more expensive side before any promotions are applied.
With the bundling discount, the price is brought down more in line with the one disadvantage about signing up for a bundle with Sumo compared to the other providers we've listed is that you will need to sign up for a 12 or 24-month contract.
Fortunately, you can bring your own modem and save a few dollars at setup.
This bundle is only available in states where Sumo sells energy plans including New South Wales, Victoria, South East Queensland and South Australia.
If NBN and energy bundles aren't scratching that savings itch, there are plenty of other ways to save money on your utilities.
Check out a few more of our guides for penny-pinching:
Is bundling your internet, electricity and gas worth it?

At this point in time, bundling your internet along with your utilities is probably only worth it in a few situations.
If you're already with any of these providers for your energy needs, then you can take a chunk off your monthly bill but you could achieve the same thing simply by looking at cheaper providers in our NBN comparison engine.
Unlike a home phone and internet plan bundle, most providers don't even provide a single itemised bill meaning you might not even save on admin time.
You also have to consider whether you're getting a good deal on electricity or gas. The best way to maximise your savings is to find the cheapest service for each utility and see how it compares to what you'd pay if you selected a bundle with one provider.
If you're looking to save money on your internet plan it could be better to consider cheap internet deals instead.
Here are the cheapest NBN plans available on our database right now, arranged by speed tier:

Other energy providers that sell internet plans
If you prefer to keep your bills together with the one provider and aren't fussed about bundling discounts then there are a couple more energy providers that also sell energy plans.
Red Energy
Red Energy will soon sell internet plans. It will be reselling Aussie Broadband plans under the Aussie Brand rather than re-branding them to Red Energy. It's unclear yet whether the energy provider will offer a discount to customers who sign up for both an energy and internet plan.
Here's a look at what Aussie Broadband currently offers:

Internet, electricity and gas bundle FAQs
What are other ways of reducing my internet, electricity or gas bill?
One of the best ways to reduce how much you spend on your utilities is to shop around for a better deal at least every 12 months. Energy prices change each year as part of a regulatory process. It's really as simple as waiting for the letter from your energy retailer that prices are going up and then starting the process to switch.
Most telcos increase the price of their internet plans in line with the consumer price index. With your internet bill, in particular, consider your needs. It may even be an option for you to switch to a lower speed tier and pay less.
What are the pros and cons of bundling your bills?
Whether bundling your bills is a good option for you will depend on what you prioritise if that's convenience then it can be a real time saver. However, if you prioritise saving money rather than time it's usually not going to be the best option.
- Save on another utility while you're already with the one provider
- Receive a $10-$35 monthly discount
- Can view all bills with one service provider
- Bundling locks you into one provider where you otherwise might find a better deal on each plan individually
- Most providers continue to bill and charge for each service separately which doesn't cut out any admin time
