If you're looking for a way to cut down your bills, you can sometimes bundle TV and streaming services with your internet plan.
While it's not common, some providers do allow customers to add some sort of streaming service, or set-top-box, to their internet plan. Some of these deals come and go, while others have been around for a while now. It's really about knowing where to look.
In this guide, we'll cover how and where you can bundle TV and streaming services in Australia.
The cheapest way to bundle streaming services
Probably the cheapest way to bundle streaming services in Australia is via Optus, thanks to its SubHub platform – assuming enough of the services you’re interested in work with SubHub.
Eligible Optus internet customers can link various services to their SubHub account and receive discounts on their monthly streaming bill. Link two services and receive 5% off the total bill. Link three or more and receive 10% off.
Given Optus isn't the cheapest internet provider on the market, you'll likely need to link three or more services to make it cheaper overall than signing up to a smaller ISP for your internet and paying full price for your services. You might have to crack out your calculator app and do a little maths to figure out if it's worth it.
You can also sign up to an Optus Plus Family Entertainer NBN plan and get a Netflix Standard subscription for free – normally $18.99 per month. That said, this saving doesn't even fully bridge the price gap between Optus' Family Entertainer NBN plan and its equally-fast-but-cheaper Everyday NBN plan, so it's only worth considering if you're interested in the additional Optus Ultra WiFi Booster included with the Family Entertainer pack.
You can't link every streaming service to SubHub, but there are a fair few, including Netflix, Prime Video, Paramount Plus, Binge, BritBox, Hayu, NBL League Pass, DAZN and YouTube. You can even add on services like Microsoft Office 365.
Here are Optus' Family Entertainer plans, which include a Standard Netflix subscription:

Internet plans with Netflix discounts
Occasionally, a provider will bundle Netflix discounts with its internet plans, but it's usually a limited-time deal.
The only long-term options right now are both from Optus. You can link streaming services with its SubHub platform and/or by signing up for an Optus Plus Family Entertainer NBN plan as detailed earlier.
Optus is the only 5G home internet provider that offers any kind of Netflix discount. The Optus Plus Entertainer Superfast 5G plan bundles a Netflix Standard subscription (worth $18.99 per month) for free.
It's not an internet plan deal but AGL (which does offer internet plans) has the "AGL Netflix Electricity plan" which comes with $96 worth of value. Netflix Standard with Ads is included with the plan but you can upgrade to Netflix Standard for $11 per month or Netflix Premium for $18 per month.
You can save on your internet plan if you bundle it with an AGL energy plan.
Internet plans with other streaming discounts
There are a few internet providers who offer perks like bonuses or discounted streaming services upon signup, but it's not common and the discounts don't always last long-term.
At time of writing, new Origin Broadband internet customers can score a free 12-month subscription to Paramount Plus, normally worth $10.99 per month.
Here are Origin's NBN plans:
Eligible Optus customers can naturally save on Optus Sport. Optus customers pay $9.99 per month for Optus Sport, compared to $24.99 per month for non-Optus customers.
Eligible customers include those signed up to Optus' home internet plans (both NBN and 5G home internet) and Optus' postpaid mobile plans.
Internet plans with Foxtel bundle
Currently, no providers bundle Foxtel packages with internet plans. Telstra did once upon a time, but no longer.
Internet plans with Fetch TV bundle

Fetch TV is a popular set-top box and subscription package.
Like Foxtel, you sign up to different channel packages, each with their own monthly fee. Unlike traditional Foxtel, Fetch TV operates over the internet and doesn't usually require expensive installation or setup fees, or a specific connection technology.
You don't have to sign up to it via a provider, but doing so will mean you can pay monthly instalments, instead of buying a Fetch TV box outright from a retailer. You can also sometimes get perks or discounts for going via a provider.
Fetch's basic monthly pricing only gets you the box – if you want any channels, they're extra. The standard channel packs are $6 per month each, but there are some that cost more. You can also watch live TV, streamed via the internet. If you have the Fetch Mighty set-top box, you're also able to record TV to its storage drive.
The set-top box can run streaming apps like Netflix, Stan, Disney Plus, Amazon Prime Video, Apple TV Plus, BritBox, DAZN, Hayu and more. But you need an active subscription to any service if you want to watch it via the app.
Rather than a bundled discount with an internet plan, it's best to think of Fetch TV as a cheaper alternative to Foxtel.
At the time of writing, only Telstra (which is the majority owner of Fetch TV) is the only telco that still sells Fetch, and it doesn't offer it as a bundle. Typically, Telstra sells the Fetch Mini for $198 outright or the Fetch Mighty for $396.
Or you can get the Fetch Mini for $8.25 per month for 24 months, plus extra for channel packs and the Fetch Mighty for $16.50 for 24 months. If you cancel your plan before 24 months are up you must pay out the remaining monthly payments in the term.
Do you need an internet and TV bundle?
It's the same situation as internet and home phone bundles. While you can save a bit of money getting some sort of package deal, you can often get a better deal by just signing up for your various services separately.
You actually don't need an internet plan to get any of these options. Anyone can subscribe to Fetch TV as well, you'll just need to buy the box outright from participating retailers.
If you're looking for something with less commitment, adding these TV services is a good place to start, but you might be able to save money by just opting for streaming platforms that you actually use.
There are also many more affordable internet plans out there than the ones that come with a bundle included. If you can save an extra $20 per month on your internet plan, then paying a bit extra for your entertainment on the side becomes more palatable.
