Samsung's Galaxy S25 family is now available! The standard Galaxy S25 is Samsung's "entry-level" flagship phone, representing the starting point for its premium devices. While the phone itself doesn't look too different from the Galaxy S24, it has a faster processor, a lighter build, and a bunch of new Galaxy AI features.
Samsung Galaxy S25 plans
The Galaxy S25 is available on mobile plans from Telstra, Optus, and Vodafone. All three providers offer the choice of 24-month and 36-month repayments. A 24-month term means you own your Galaxy S25 faster, while a 36-month term brings down your monthly cost.

If you're looking to buy a Galaxy S25, there are a few telco deals worth considering.
Vodafone: If you buy your Galaxy S25 on a Vodafone plan, you'll save $250 on the price of the phone. This is divided across the length of your repayment, and would work out to be a discount of $6.94 per month on a 36-month term.
Vodafone is also currently running a double data deal on its mobile plans. This means you'll get 100GB instead of 50GB with Vodafone's cheapest Galaxy S25 plan. You'll also save $10 per month for the length of your phone repayment term.
Optus: If you pick up a Galaxy S25 on an Optus plan, you can save $250. This is divided across the length of your repayment, and works out to be a $6.94 discount on a 36-month term. If you take up Optus' $10 per month Watch plan, you'll get a 40mm Galaxy Watch 7 at no cost. This deal runs until April 6.
Telstra: If you buy the Galaxy S25 on a Telstra plan, you'll save $200. This is divided by the length of your repayment, and works out to be a $5.55 discount on a 36-month plan. This deal runs until March 10.

Samsung Galaxy S25 features

The Galaxy S25 family aren't huge updates from a hardware perspective. The two main changes are the move to a Snapdragon 8 Elite processor across the family and a lighter build on all three phones. Instead, Samsung has focused on expanding Galaxy AI.
Samsung Galaxy S25 AI
The entire Galaxy S25 family features Galaxy AI, which was introduced in last year's Galaxy S24 family. In addition to existing Galaxy AI features - capabilities like live two-way translation, writing tools, summaries, and AI photo editing - there's a whole host of new additions. These include:
- Proactive briefs at the start and end of each day, giving you information like weather, sleep data, and your calendar
- Call recording with automatic transcription
- The ability for the virtual assistant to complete multi-step tasks with one command. Samsung gave the example of "find vegan pet-friendly restaurants, and then send the list to Dave"
- Natural language search in the Samsung Gallery app and the Settings app
- Improvements to Circle to Search that let it identify audio playing, in addition to what's on the screen
- An audio eraser for removing background noise from videos
Some Galaxy AI features, such as photo editing, require an internet connection. Others, such as live translate, are done entirely on the phone.
Some of the new Galaxy AI features will be made available on older devices like the Galaxy S24 eventually. The Galaxy S25 will be able to execute AI tasks faster, however.
Samsung Galaxy S25 design
The Galaxy S25 family all look pretty similar to last year's models, with some minor changes. The Galaxy S25 and Galaxy S25 Plus are dead ringers for their predecessors, still featuring a 6.2-inch and 6.7-inch display, respectively. Both are a little bit lighter, however.
The Galaxy S25 Ultra has a slightly larger 6.9-inch display, up from 6.8-inch on the Galaxy S24 Ultra last year. Samsung has also shrunk the bezel surrounding the screen, and reduced the weight. While the Galaxy S24 Ultra has a boxy design, Samsung has made the Galaxy S25 Ultra bit curvier, bringing it line with the rest of the family. It still comes with an integrated S Pen.
Samsung Galaxy S25 camera
Cameras on the Galaxy S25 family are largely unchanged; most specifications are identical to last year. The one difference is a new 50MP ultra-wide lens on the Ultra, replacing the old 12MP ultra-wide lens.
The camera array on the standard Galaxy S25 includes a 50MP primary lens, 12MP ultra-wide lens, 10MP 3x zoom lens, and a 12MP selfie camera.
Samsung Galaxy S25 battery
The Galaxy S25 family all have identical batteries to last year's models. In the case of the standard Galaxy S25, this means it has a 4,000mAh cell.
Samsung Galaxy S25 processor
Every Galaxy S25 model is powered by a variant of Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset specifically optimised for Samsung. Samsung says the Snapdragon 8 Elite offers 37% faster processing than the Galaxy S24 Ultra and 30% faster graphics.
Samsung Galaxy S25 5G
The Galaxy S25 family all naturally have 5G connectivity, but variants sold in Australia don't support mmWave 5G. mmWave is a faster type of 5G that telcos have slowly been rolling out, but very few devices support it locally.
WhistleOut's coverage checker tool has 5G coverage maps, making it easy to see whether you can get 5G. All you need to do is pop in your address when searching for a new phone plan. After you've done so and hit Search, you can jump straight to the coverage map by tapping See Coverage Map and then tapping Click To Activate Interactive Map.
This map will show you what kind of coverage you have in your area. 5G coverage is highlighted using the darkest shade of purple, but unticking 4G and 3G can help make it clearer. The drop-down menu lets you choose between telcos.
Coverage maps are only approximate, only show outdoor coverage, and may be impacted by local conditions such as buildings.

Samsung Galaxy S25 plan providers
Telstra, Optus, and Vodafone are all ranging the Galaxy S25 family. Here's a breakdown of the major benefits you can expect each provider to offer.
Telstra Galaxy S25 plans
Telstra Galaxy plans are often the priciest on the Australian market, but they do come with a host of perks.
Telstra lets you pay your Galaxy off over 12, 24, or 36 months, and all plans are free from excess data charges. If you go over your cap, your data will simply be slowed to speeds of 1.5Mbps, which is still fast enough to stream video in SD. But speeds may be slower during peak times.
Optus Galaxy S25 plans
Optus Galaxy plans come with solid data inclusions.
Higher-end Optus plans also come with unlimited international calls to selected destinations included with the plan.
All Optus plans are contract-free, and devices can be paid off across 12, 24, or 36 months.
In addition, all Optus postpaid plans are free from excess data charges. If you go over your allowance, you'll be slowed to 1.5Mbps rather than being billed $10 per gigabyte.
Vodafone Galaxy S25 plans
Vodafone Galaxy plans may not come with the kinds of freebies and perks you can get from Optus or Telstra, but they have bonuses when it comes to bundling.
If you have a Vodafone mobile plan, you can get most of the telco's internet plans - NBN, 5G home internet, and 4G home internet - at a discounted rate.
Vodafone customers also save 5% on their total mobile bill for each postpaid mobile plan on their account after the first. This discount maxes out at 20% and doesn't include handset repayments.
Vodafone postpaid plans are all free from excess data charges. When you go over your plan allowance, you'll be capped at 2Mbps.
You'll also get access to Vodafone's $5 roaming, which is still easily the best way to travel with your Australian phone number.
How to choose the best Samsung Galaxy S25 plan for you
There are a few key factors to keep in mind when picking a Samsung Galaxy S25 plan:
- Answering "how much mobile data do I use" can help you avoid overspending. Don't pay for more data than you need
- Decide whether you want to pay off your phone shorter on a 24-month plan or get a smaller bill over a longer period of time on a 36-month plan
- If you're a frequent overseas traveller consider any international roaming inclusions
- You may also want to make international phone calls so check if the destinations you may be calling are included in your plan
