Samsung's new foldable phones are now available, and the Galaxy Z Flip 6 certainly seems promising thanks to a larger battery and higher resolution primary lens.

The Galaxy Z Flip 6 is available on mobile plans from Telstra, Optus, and Vodafone. All three providers offer the choice of 24-month and 36-month repayments. A 24-month term means you own your Galaxy Z Flip 6 faster, while a 36-month term brings down your monthly cost.
Just note that Telstra's mobile plans will be getting more expensive from August. Each plan will cost at least $3 per month more, and that will kick in on your first bill after August 27.

Optus: Customers who buy their Galaxy Z Flip 6 through Optus will get a Galaxy Watch 7 for free, provided they also take out a $10 per month Watch Plan. This provides eSIM connectivity for the Watch 7, allowing it to be used when the paired phone isn't around.
Vodafone: Customers who buy their Galaxy Z Flip 6 through Vodafone get a $500 discount on the phone, $350 in bonus credit when they trade in their old phone, and 20% off a Galaxy Watch Ultra if they buy one at the same time.
Vodafone is currently also giving new mobile customers three free months of Binge.
Telstra: Customers who buy their Galaxy Z Flip 6 through Telstra will get a bonus Galaxy Watch 7, and $400 in bonus credit when they trade in their old phone.
Telstra also has a whole host of streaming offers for new customers. This includes four months of free access to Spotify Premium, two months of access to Binge, three months of access to Flash, and two weeks of Kayo.
How much does the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 6 cost in Australia?
Both the Galaxy Z Flip 6 and Galaxy Z Fold 6 got more expensive this year. Samsung increased the starting price of both phones by $150. This means you'll now pay a minimum of $1,799 for a Galaxy Z Flip 6. Higher storage models also saw a $150 price bump across the board.

Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 6 features
The Galaxy Z Flip 6 may look pretty similar to its predecessor, but it addresses key complaints from past models, offering a better primary camera and a larger battery.

The Galaxy Z Flip 6 hasn't really changed from last year's model. The core design is effectively identical, but the phone comes in new colours: silver shadow, yellow, blue, and mint. The hues are more vibrant this year, and there's a small matching embellishment around each camera lens.

The Galaxy Z Flip 6 benefits from a much-awaited camera upgrade: the primary lens finally gets a bump in resolution. Instead of having a 12MP main camera like its predecessors, the Z Flip 6 is kitted out with a 50MP shooter. This should improve detail as well as low-light photography. Samsung says this is the same primary camera as found on the Galaxy S24 and Galaxy S24 Plus. The Z Flip 6's ultra-wide lens is still 12MP.

The Galaxy Z Flip 6 has been upgraded to a 4,000mAh battery. That's 300mAh larger than what we saw in the Galaxy Z Flip 6. Battery hasn't even been the Z Flip's strength, but it has steadily been getting better. When we reviewed the Z Flip 5 last year, it was able to get around four hours of screen time per charge. That's on the shorter side, but a bit of extra capacity could help get the Z Flip 6 to a more comfortable place.

The Galaxy Z Flip 6 has 5G connectivity, but variants sold in Australia don't support mmWave 5G. mmWave is a faster type of 5G that telcos have slowly been rolling out, but very few devices support it locally.
WhistleOut's coverage checker tool has 5G coverage maps, making it easy to see whether you can get 5G. All you need to do is pop in your address when searching for a new phone plan. Telstra lets you pay your Galaxy off over 12, 24, or 36 months, and all plans are free from excess data charges. If you go over your cap, your data will simply be slowed to speeds of 1.5Mbps, which is still fast enough to stream video in SD. But speeds may be slower during peak times.
Optus Galaxy Z Flip 6 plans
Optus Galaxy plans come with solid data inclusions.
Higher-end Optus plans also come with unlimited international calls to selected destinations included with the plan.
All Optus plans are contract-free, and devices can be paid off across 12, 24, or 36 months.
In addition, all Optus postpaid plans are free from excess data charges. If you go over your allowance, you'll be slowed to 1.5Mbps rather than being billed $10 per gigabyte.
Vodafone Galaxy Z Flip 6 plans
Vodafone Galaxy plans may not come with the kinds of freebies and perks you can get from Optus or Telstra, but they have bonuses when it comes to bundling.
If you have a Vodafone mobile plan, you can get most of the telco's internet plans - NBN, 5G home internet, and 4G home internet - at a discounted rate.
Vodafone customers also save 5% on their total mobile bill for each postpaid mobile plan on their account after the first. This discount maxes out at 20% and doesn't include handset repayments.
Vodafone postpaid plans are all free from excess data charges. When you go over your plan allowance, you'll be capped at 2Mbps.
You'll also get access to Vodafone's famous $5 roaming, which is still easily the best way to travel with your Australian phone number.
