The iPhone 15 Pro Max was the crown jewel of the iPhone 15 family - the largest, most expensive device with the most versatile camera setup. While the iPhone 15 Pro Max has now been discontinued, you still might be able to find one for a little longer. That being said, Vodafone is the only telco still offering the handset on a plan.
If you want the newest model, take a look at iPhone 16 Pro Max plans instead.
iPhone 15 Pro Max plans
The iPhone 15 Pro Max is now only available on Vodafone, and in limited sizes and colours. The 1TB model is often entirely sold out, for example. You can still pick between 24-month and 36-month repayments. A 24-month term means you own your iPhone 15 Pro Max faster, while a 36-month term gives you a more affordable monthly bill.

As such, we're still listing the launch pricing for the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max here. You should be able to find them cheaper, however.
If you don't want a new iPhone 15 Pro Max, we're starting to see it sold as a refurbished device.
iPhone 15 Pro Max features

The iPhone 15 Pro Max got the most new features out of any 2023 iPhone. Like the Pro, it has a titanium design and Action Button, but it also scored an all-new 5x zoom lens.
iPhone 15 Pro Max design
As with every iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Pro Max swapped out Lightning for USB-C for charging. When compared to the standard iPhone 15, the iPhone 15 Pro Max (and iPhone 15 Pro) have a much faster version of USB-C. It's capable of reaching 10Gbps transfer speeds, which facilitates niche use cases, like recording video directly to external storage.
The iPhone 15 Pro Max has a 6.7-inch display like the iPhone 14 Pro Max, but the phone itself is smaller as Apple has reduced bezel. The stainless steel body Apple has used for the last few years has been replaced with titanium, which is both lighter and more durable.
Apple has also swapped out the mute switch for an Action Button. By default, a long press will swap your phone from silent to loud and vice versa, but you can change it to customisable action. You can use the Action Button to start a voice memo, open the camera, start accessibility features, or open a shortcut, for example.
Lastly, every new iPhone has a slightly contoured design, in contrast with the harsh square edges on the last few generations of iPhones.
The iPhone 15 Pro Max is available in a choice of natural titanium, blue titanium, white titanium, and black titanium.
iPhone 15 Pro Max camera
The Phone 15 Pro Max and the smaller iPhone 15 Pro share two of the same cameras: a 48MP primary lens and a 12MP ultra-wide lens. The primary lens has a larger sensor than the previous model, and is a bit more flexible. Out of the box you'll get higher resolution 24MP photos but have the option of taking 48MP snaps if you want more detail.
The primary lens can also emulate 24mm, 28mm, and 35mm focal lengths, giving you some more versatility. You'll be able to pick your favourite to set it as your default for 1x zoom.
While the iPhone 15 Pro has a 3x zoom lens like other recent Pro models, Apple has upgraded the iPhone 15 Pro Max to a 5x zoom lens. That's the longest zoom lens we've seen on an iPhone. The 5x zoom lens is the fastest around, equalling the Pixel 8 Pro.

iPhone 15 Pro Max battery
Apple rates the iPhone 15 Pro Max battery for 29 hours of video playback - the same as the iPhone 14 Pro Max. In our testing, we found this claim to be accurate - you can expect around seven hours of screen time from the iPhone 15 Pro Max, which translates to around a day-and-a-half of standard usage.
iPhone 15 Pro Max processor
The iPhone 15 Pro Max is powered by the A17 Pro chipset. Apple says the A17's CPU is 10% faster than the A16, and the GPU is 20% faster, as well as more energy efficient. As a result, several console titles like Resident Evil Village and Death Stranding are now available for it.
iPhone 15 Pro Max 5G
The iPhone 15 Pro Max naturally has 5G connectivity. WhistleOut's coverage checker tool has 5G coverage maps, making it easy to see whether you can get 5G. All you need to do is pop in your address when searching for a new phone plan. After you've done so and hit Search, you can jump straight to the coverage map by tapping See Coverage Map and then tapping Click To Activate Interactive Map.
This map will show you what kind of coverage you have in your area. 5G coverage is highlighted using the darkest shade of purple, but unticking 4G and 3G can help make it clearer. The drop-down menu lets you choose between telcos.
Coverage maps are only approximate, only show outdoor coverage, and may be impacted by local conditions such as buildings.
iPhone 15 Pro Max eSIM
Every iPhone 15 model sold in Australia supports eSIM, but still has a physical SIM slot.
eSIM (an electronic SIM or embedded SIM) is a rewritable SIM card that’s built directly into the phone. It never leaves your phone. Instead, you simply download a "software SIM" from your provider of choice.
