Hot off its iPhone 16 event, Apple has confirmed that iOS 18 - the latest version of its iPhone operating system - will be available on September 17 (AEST).
Announced in June, iOS 18 includes new features such as greater home screen personalisation, a customisable Control Centre, a new password manager, RCS support, the ability to hide and lock individual apps, and audio transcription in the Notes app.
Apple Intelligence features won't be present in the first version of iOS 18. These will first become available in US English in October, and then in Australian English in December. Australian iPhone owners will be able to swap to US English to test them early.
Apple Intelligence features include writing tools, smart summaries for notifications and email subjects, a more conversational Siri, and image and emoji generation. Not all of these will be available in October.
